Harumi and I met because of her father, Balthus. We became best friends. We connect and inspire each other, even if our work is of rather different nature. (Maybe that's why…) Not long after Balthus had died, Harumi and I spent an hour in the former studio of her father. Everything in there was left as he had left it, except the canvases… Even the cigarette stumps of her father were still in the ashtrays. Harumi lit one of his cigarettes and thought of him, spoke about him as if he was there… and described how he would often look at his painting through a mirror before he continued his work...
